With every new release, REZZ has made a headstrong point to unleash yet another dimension of her hypnotic, entrancing sound upon the electronic music world. She’s taken us on a wild and crazy trip through her mind since her inception as an artist and her latest body of work, As The Pendulum Swings, is yet another excursion into another alternate angle of REZZ’s artistry.

This is unabashedly her underground club era. Her darkest, dankest, and murkiest sounds run rampant throughout this record’s 45 minute runtime and it’s easily her most forward-thinking release thus far.

As the Pendulum Swings is overwrought with intention and soul, leaving no question as to how meticulously calculated this installment of our Space Mom’s truly is. It’s clear that this record is a clear cut and concise mission statement from REZZ. Opening with “Prophecy,” we’re invited to enter into her version of a packed Berghain nightclub. She goes hard in the paint with the percussive elements for this dusky tune, forgoing any expectations placed upon her to ever sound a certain way. The only person she needs to please with this music is herself, and that she went all in to make this music sound markedly different from the rest of her catalog is sure
to reel in gobs of new followers and Cult members.

That’s not to say that there aren’t shades and glimpses into REZZ’s musical past: we get a ferociously updated version of fan favorite and cult classic “Contorted” that is sure to please longtime fans and newcomers alike. We also are treated to touches of her old sound and aesthetic inside of dreamy, minimal bangers like her collab with Chuurch, “Telepathy,” which
sounds like something that would have fit warmly at home on Mass Manipulation if it were to come out in 2025.

One key element of As the Pendulum Swings that sets the record apart from the rest is how welcoming REZZ is to collaboration inside these tunes. She’s always been a tantalizing collaborator, often bringing out sounds in her peers that we wouldn’t hear otherwise. This record is undeniably her most exciting and experimental in the way of who she’s chosen to collaborate with.

It's safe to say that it was probably on no one’s bingo card for REZZ to record a tune with moombahton OG and dancefloor destroyer Dillon Francis. As far as leftfield collaborations go, this is as unpredictable as it gets - and the resulting track, “HOW I DO IT,” is a standout not only
amongst this album, but within REZZ’s entire catalog. This tune creates a flawless intersection between these three unique artist’s aesthetics – BRVMES, Dillon and REZZ all bring their A game with this track. Our ears get treated to a squelchy, higher pitched melody that harkens back heavily to Dillon Francis’ launch as a producer. When paired up with REZZ’s industrial-tinged sonic destruction and BRVMES penchant for edgy electro sounds, it makes for an unforgettable touchstone in this trio’s oeuvre of music.

A collaboration that is sure to please longtime Rezzbians is her outing with longtime friend, frequent collaborator, and Hypnovizion alum EDDIE. “Zone” is a sludgy trek through the gloomier annals of their signature approach to production – it’s an absolute boot stomper. In every new release and each new track, REZZ edges closer and closer to perfecting the space where bass music and industrial music can coexist. This is one that hones in heavily onto the path where REZZ sees her music heading in the coming years. It’s always an out-and-out treat when these two work together and “Zone” is no exception.

One of the most exciting collaborations on As the Pendulum Swings is her reunion with K?D.. “Substance,” a highly danceable and infectious slab of pure aural bliss. Longtime Rezzbians have always been quite affectionate towards K?D’s unconventional approach to electronic music thanks to his early collab with REZZ, “Fourth Impact,” which is still a fan favorite well
after its release back in 2017. “Substance” is meticulously designed to do one thing: get your body moving. The track delivers in spades, ensuring that the club is left drenched in sweat by the time this dynamic duo is done with us.

Something we all love and appreciate most about Space Mom is her knack for laying the emotion on thick and heavy. Songs like “Lonely” and “Paper Walls” are among her most vulnerable works and never fail to get our tear ducts swelling when she plays them live. REZZ’s collaboration with life partner and gorgeously gifted vocalist fknsyd and eternal friend isqa
(who some might remember as No Mana) is a lush companion to those more expressive and feel-heavy songs. Rife with violins and trudging along at an impactful pace, “Delirium” is a succinctly fitting album closer. It’s eerie as hell, and would sound right at home on any playlist designed to accompany your spooky season.

While the collaborations within As the Pendulum Swings are nothing short of unforgettable, the veritable centerpiece of this record could very well be REZZ’s detour into synthwave territory. “Running From Yourself” is an intense, neon tinted nighttime drive through a faction of her sound that some fans have been clamoring for since she’s devoted herself to making industrial-adjacent bass music. Followers of artists such as Carpenter Brut and Perturbator will unequivocally be left salivating over this track. She’s toyed with synthwave elements in her music quite a bit through her propelling, monstrous basslines and sub heavy drum programming - but “Running From Yourself” is REZZ’s display of what a synthwave release might sound like from her mind and is sure to leave every listener wanting more of her take on this retrofuturistic genre.

Another surprising dip into a starkly different pool of sound is “Upper,” a manically propulsive tearaway through downright four-on-the-floor territory. The determination from REZZ to churn out her most playful work shines brightest here as she takes us on a rapid fire journey through a
sound that reads as the polar opposite of her midtempo beginnings. On “Upper,” Space Mom is taking us to the muthafunkin’ CLUB. This is yet another approach to the REZZ sound that fans have long been yearning for and it winds up being one of the most memorable chapters of As the Pendulum Swings.

As the Pendulum Swings is a seething monolith of sonic terrorism. REZZ holds nothing back on this record, cementing her place in the upper echelon of the most cracked bass music heavyweight titans. Every new release from her translates as a new magnum opus because she’s forever leveling up…but As the Pendulum Swings is an unbridled tour de force through every facet of REZZ’s mind. So dig in, turn it up, and lose yourself inside of this pièce de resistance of masterfully crafted electronic music.
